Traditional Fabric Pattern

  • Tenun Ikat Donggala
  • What is Tenun?

The Tenun Ikat Donggala style of weaving stems from the Donggala tribe. According to traditional legend, this motif was passed down from a native Donggala woman taught by Lord Tomanurun himself, who descended from heaven to teach skills such as weaving. The designs in this area hold deep meaning as the artisans here tend to channel their emotions through weaving while their husbands are sailing. This is why many of the motifs from this region depict the living conditions of the local community.

Batik is a traditional fabric dyeing technique in which artisans apply dye-resisting wax to create beautifully ornate designs. Now popularized worldwide, we aim to honor batik’s Indonesian origins. Each of our labels features a distinctive and culturally significant motif unique to the areas where we’ve sourced our single-origin products as an homage to the communities that make our work possible.
